The WARIS Network Doctors CME Program is headed by Hony Director, Shri D Mathur. In the community intervention program(Headed by Hony Director: Dr B Gupta), as part of Free Heart Camps, the Cardiovascular risk of each individual is calculated based on their assessments of Blood Pressure, Lipids, and other factors, which is fed into software derived from Framingham Data (USA), as applied by American College of Cardiology. These people are then given specific advice regarding risk intervention using Lifestyle and Pharmacological methods. Such Interventional programs have been successfully done for Doctors of Alwar, through IMA Alwar in 2008, wherein a third of Doctors were unaware of their new onset risk factors and hence newly developed, recent heightened risk of heart attack/ cardiovascular disease. Intervention was done successfully in them, using lifestyle modification and therapeutic options.
As you are well aware, India has one of the largest numbers of patients of Heart disease. This is indeed a disaster and much needs to be done to create awareness about the `Dos and Don’ts ` to prevent heart attack. Awareness also needs to be created about the symptoms of a heart attack and what can be done at the grass root level as 1st Aid to optimize chances of survival for the patient and reduce his heart muscle loss.
By spreading our message of `Do`s and Don’ts` , will not only save millions of lives , it will also save millions of homes and also prevent millions of children from becoming destitute because of loss of breadwinner in the family as a result of heart disease.
